City Honors is not only a college preparatory high school, it is, more importantly, a life preparatory experience. Responsibility, discipline, commitment, work ethic, time management, self-esteem, and teamwork are part of CHS extracurricular activities.
Crew practices are as important as races. You are expected to attend every scheduled practice, arrive on time, and be prepared to participate fully.
If you are in school, you must go to practice.
However, if school is closed or released early due to bad weather, no practice will be held and the rowing club will be closed.
If you cannot attend a practice, you must call or talk to the coach. If you know that you will not be able to attend a regatta, you must let the coach know as soon as you find out, preferably weeks ahead of time.
Too many missed practices or regattas will determine whether you compete and may lead to suspension or explusion from Crew.
Good Rule of Thumb: Treat extracurricular activities as you would a job. If you are scheduled to work, what would the consequences be if you showed up sporadically or missed a major event?
